Revoke or Grant Change System Time Windows XP
From time to time the need is apparent to be able to restrict the ability to change the system time in windows XP. The following article and picture series depicts the process in Windows XP Pro using the Local Policy Editor.
Revoke or Grant Change System Time Windows XP – Details
First Steps, you will need to find the policy editor from Administration Tools within Control Panel. The first step is to, as an Administrator, click on Start Menu->Control Panel
After Control panel comes up, you can click on Administration Tools within the Icons ( Note Classic View should be selected )
Once Administration Tools opens, locate Local Security Policy and double click on it.
Local Security Policy will open the final window that we need to use to adjust the setting. Find the Local Policies leaf in the left pane tree view.
]If you double clicked or hit the plus to expand the leaf, a sub leaf called User Rights Assignment should appear, click on that to load the security policy settings for changing system time.
Locate the Change the System Time setting on the right panel now, and double click on it.
This is where you can either add or remove Users and Groups that are allowed to modify the system time.
To remove, simply click on the user you want to remove, then click on the Remove button at the bottom of the window.
