Have you ever dropped your cell in a puddle, a toilet or some other wet place?
I have not myself, but I have recently been a part of a situation where there was. If this ever happens to you, don't panic. The first thing you need to do is remove the battery as quick as possible. Once the battery is out, there is no source of power and therefore less chance of actually frying anything. Now that you have the battery out you will most certainly have to wait until you get to a dry place with a micro screw driver set.
Water and electronics or electrical devices definately do not mix. The reason is that water is a conductor of electricity with differing resistances based on the source. So in other words for an electrical or electronics circuit, you can heavily influence the circuit by introducing water at any point and changingthe resistive properties of a given branch. For instance, if the resistance of water is less than that of a given branch, more current will flow through that path in effect shorting out that circuit. If this happens to an output pin on an Integrated Circuit, this can burn out the output pin by drawing too much current through the pin
